In the spirit of starting a new year, beginning with a clean slate from which to mold our opinion of the year to come, I have decided to completely rethink my blog. In doing so, I have decided to start from square one. Before I decided to do this, I put some thought into what my blog strategy should be, and the basic building blocks that form a blog.

After reading through countless articles online, and a very good book about blogging, I put some thought into my blogging goals and strategies. I came up with a list of three questions that I believed I would need to answer before writing another word:

Is blogging for me?
Probably the most important question anyone who is going to be blogging can ask themselves, “Is blogging for me?”. Writing is something I have always been good at, and sharing what I know — through Social Media, failed blogs, chats, and forums — has always been fun to me. So, blogging is definitely something I want to pursuit.

What is my blog about?
This is one question that took the most thought for me. By nature, I’m a very random person. My interests don’t usually lay in a neat line. So instead of settling on the ideal, narrow, niche topic; I decided that three topics that are somewhat related would be in my best interests if I want to keep my content fresh, engaging, and not become bored exhausting one topic.

How often should my blog be updated?
When I started taking a look at the current state of my blog (visible on my Wordpress.com archives), there was one obvious flaw with my approach to blogging — blog fast, and infrequent. Not only was my previous blog so off topic it would make your head spin, I had been spanning months without so much as a peep. When I decided to focus more on blogging, I gave myself a minimum of two posts per week. This is enough to engage anyone wanting to listen to what I have to say, and not so much that blogging begins to feel like a chore.

So, without dragging this process out any further, my new blog is here. I’ll be writting about social media, online communities, and the occasional blogging-centric post as I grow in my new blogging shoes. If you’re interested in taking a ride with me through the new year, Subscribe to my feed and stay tuned for more!
